Edinburgh is at the heart of Scotland and easy to reach by air, rail and
road. Delegates from the UK and beyond will find the city accessible - and
after a journey full of expectation, arrival in such a fantastic setting
will bring its own rewards.
Hotels and meeting venues often
within a 15-minute walk or short taxi drive. Delegates may easily explore
the city on foot, and at the heart of the city there is always the
magnificent Edinburgh Castle as a reference point.
It is Britain’s fastest growing
airport for budget airlines. There are over 60 connecting flights daily from
London’s 5 airports, with connections radiating worldwide. Edinburgh is
served directly by numerous European airports: Paris, Frankfurt, Brussels,
Zurich, & Dublin, to mention a few. Daily there are direct transatlantic
flights from the USA to Edinburgh.
By Air
Edinburgh Airport is only 12
kilometres (15-20 minutes) from the city centre and has excellent shuttle
coach and taxi connections. There are over 30 flights from London airports
every day, and regular services to other major British cities. Major
airlines fly to over 30 European destinations including Amsterdam, Brussels,
Paris, Stockholm, Frankfurt, Paris and Zurich. There is a direct route from
New York to Edinburgh daily and flights to Calgary and Toronto are provided
from Glasgow Airport, an hour's drive away.
By Rail
The Edinburgh and London route is
the fastest train service between cities in Britain, taking just over four
hours from one city centre to the heart of the other. There are highspeed
links to all of the other major population centres and airports in the UK,
while the Eurostar service connects Paris to Edinburgh in around eight
hours.
By Road
Motorways and a network of quiet
trunk roads ensure Edinburgh is easily - and pleasantly - accessible by
road. The national coach station connects to all major British cities.
By Ferry
There is a daily overnight service
from Rosyth (just half an hour from the centre of Edinburgh) to Zeebrugge in
Belgium. It is operated by Superfast Ferries, offering superb comfort and a
journey time of just 18 hours with one service per day in each direction.
By Foot
There are a wide range of hotels
located within a 2 km radius of the EICC. Delegates will find it easy to
walk, take public transport or taxis from their hotels to the meeting venue.
Shuttle services can also be arranged.
