A Night at the Castle
Delegates may be welcomed to the City of Edinburgh by the Lord Provost during an official
reception at Edinburgh Castle. One of the highlights of the evening is the
Grand Finale - a ceremony of Beating Retreat. The military ceremony of
Beating Retreat has its origins in the 16th Century and is now used as a
ceremony to mark a special occasion and is performed floodlight by a
Scottish Pipe and Drum Band in full ceremonial uniform.
National Galleries on the Mound
At the National Galleries of Scotland your reception guests are surrounded
by classical and avant garde artists, with the curator on hand to comment.
Overlooking Princes Street Gardens in the heart of Edinburgh, the National
Gallery, Royal Scottish Academy Building and Westin Link give each delegate
a chance to explore and to network at leisure.
Dinner & Ceilidh
Delegates kick up their heels at an informal dinner at the Assembly Rooms in
the heart of Edinburgh. Guests may enjoy an exceptional buffet of fresh
salmon and smoked venison to mention a few Scottish delicacies. The
traditional address to the Haggis, composed centuries ago by Robert Burns,
and the traditional toast with whisky, marks your truly
Scottish evening.
Whisky Tasting
No visit to Scotland would be complete without the chance to try its most
famous product. In the historic heart of the city the Scotch Whisky Heritage
Centre will host your whisky tasting. Under the tutelage of experts, guests
will learn how to 'nose a whisky' and how to discern peaty single malt from
a Highland one.
